Award-winning poet, Neil Rollinson, inspired sixth-form students with a day of workshops and a recital of his own poetry at lunchtime on Thursday 2nd October.

Neil, who is shortly to release his latest collection of poetry, ran a series of creative classes with English students, and successfully inspired a slew of new odes from the boys. It seemed fitting on National Poetry Day that the ode (a celebratory poem) should be the medium for new writing. The boys certainly appreciated the chance to flex their creative muscles.

At lunchtime he entertained the Literary Society to a feast of amusing, sensual, and nostalgic poems – many of them with an educational flavour. We do hope he visits again.
